Root Barrier
Root Barrier is developed to protect highways, foundations, waterproofing, pipes and other services, from damage arising due to tree root penetration.grow in the upper surface of the soil and spread out extensively laterally from the trunk.
A good root system is essential to sustain healthy tree growth but the roots can be deflected to grow harmlessly to avoid damage to adjacent structures or services. Root Barrier can be installed around the tree or adjacent to the structure or wrapped around the pipe. The plain Rootline is the most economic but the dimpled and pocketed Rootline is the most effective in vertical applications. The pockets guide the roots into a downward direction.
Available Root Barriers:
Root is available in two styles and each consist of robust flexible polymer (HDPE or LLDPE) sheets that resist penetration by roots.
♦ Root Barrier SGI85, 120, 200: Water impermeable HDPE with a plain surface.
♦ Root Barrier SGI100S3: Water impermeable LLDPE with a 3mm dimpled surface
Advantages of Root Barrier:
♦ Protects structures from damage caused by invasive root growth penetration.
♦ Controls roots without damaging root structure
Common Applications of Root Barrier:
♦ Root Barrier an be installed vertically as a barrier around trees to prevent the lateral spread of roots. The roots are deflected harmlessly downwards.
♦ In Green Roofs Rootline is installed horizontally above the waterproofing and offering protection from invasive root growth.
