Biaxial(BX) Geogrids
Biaxial (BX) geogrid is manufactured from virgin polypropylene (PP) which is extruded and punched to form a monolithic geogrid with strength in two planes thus called biaxial. It significantly increasing the bearing capacity and greatly stabilizes low load bearing soils. It offers high tensile stiffness at low strains combined with superior resistance to damage during the installation, as well as long-term chemical or biological degradation.
When granular material is compacted over the unique combination of ribs and the corresponding nodes allow load forces to dissipate across the geogrid structure and into a larger area allowing a positive interlock, which enables the grid to resist horizontal shear from the fill and thereby mobilize the maximum bearing capacity of the soft subsoil.
Advantages of Biaxial Geogrid:
♦ Provides cost savings by reducing soil excavation and granular aggregate thickness.
♦ Controls differential settlement and rutting.
♦ Improves Traffic Benefit and Layer Coefficient ratios.
♦ Prevents upward movement of the subgrade fines.
♦ Increases pavement life cycle.
♦ Eliminates the traditional aggregates in foundation support applications such as vibro concrete columns, concrete rafts, stone piles.
♦ Minimizes undercutting and back filling.
♦ Increases the effective bearing capacity beneath shallow spread footings.
Common Applications of Biaxial Geogrid:
♦ Railway and Highway base course reinforcement
♦ Steep sided soil embankments
♦ Slope stabilization
♦ Retaining wall
♦ Load transfer platforms
♦ Void spanning
