Application Function of Geotextiles

Geotextiles serve many purposes such as prevention of soil erosion while allowing easy flow water drainage. Water can be a nightmare to road structure because excess water makes undesirable changes to the consistency of road materials composition. The property change in the materials yields significant lowering of the load bearing capacity of the overall road. While it is certainly a must to drain off excess water, yet complete elimination or absence of water can lead to significantly lower service life of the road. Some water is preferred due to its ability to hold the soil together and keep road from eroding away like sand from traction of vehicle tires and heavy rainfall.
